A drama-documentary style programme about Anorexia Nervosa is just the thing for the last lecture slot on a Friday afternoon! It is entertaining and informative, carefully designed to engage a non-expert audience.
The story is based around a hospital consultation and admission to a psychiatric unit. From the storyline and use of flashbacks it is clear that it was nobody’s fault, but graphically displays how Lizzie came to develop Anorexia Nervosa. It shows some aspects of treatment, both at an emotional and more practical level. Lizzie goes back to college and we see how she is able to put into practise the techniques she has learnt. Although the teaching points are clear and explicit there is a recap at the end, just to make sure the audience is in no doubt.
